Photo:- Gov Kwankwaso & Officials Sweeps President Jonathan Out Of Kano

The ongoing political ‘war’ between President Goodluck Jonathan and Kano State Governor, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso took a comic dimension on Tuesday when the governor alongside his cabinet swept off the venue where Mr. President held his rally few hours after he had left.
Kwankwaso, who outrightly snubbed Jonathan and his entourage had earlier asserted he regretted voting for President Jonathan during the 2011 presidential election, saying that the President has failed the whole nation
“I regretted voting for President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011 Presidential Election, as he has done nothing to move the nation forward. Only a few people are enjoying in Nigeria at the expense of the generality of the citizenry,” he said.

Kano Rally: You Are A Hardhearted Leader, APC Tells Jonathan

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said President Goodluck Jonathan is exhibiting the traits of an insensitive and utterly hardhearted leader by returning to his illegal campaign trail, barely 24 hours after it was confirmed that 75 Nigerians had been killed in a bomb blast in Abuja; and as news broke that 200 school girls have been abducted by Boko Haram in Borno.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Wednesday by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party also renewed its call on the president to urgently convene a stakeholders’ summit and pursue a non-partisan approach towards ending the insurgency, as it is now very obvious that the challenge posed by it is beyond the capacity of the government.

It said the president’s quick return to campaigning was reprehensible and has shown that his visit to the scene of the blast was merely to avoid the kind of flak he has received for refusing to visit Yobe, where 43 school children were massacred recently, rather than a genuine show of sympathy by a truly compassionate leader.

“The message that President Jonathan is sending to Nigerians is that keeping his plum job, at all cost, is more important to him than the security and welfare of the same people who voted him into office. Otherwise, the President would not have rushed back to his illegal campaign trail at a time he should be leading the nation in mourning the dead.

“A President who said his ambition is not worth the blood of anyone is now dancing gleefully on the graves of over 70 of his compatriots. What is so important about the illegal campaign stop in Kano on Tuesday that could not have waited for the smoke to clear from the scene of the deadly blast on Monday? Who will President Jonathan rule over when his countrymen and women are being daily mowed down under his watch?

“Without mincing words, President Jonathan erred badly by not showing enough sympathy for the victims of Monday’s blast. More people died in the blast than from Kenya’s mall shooting last September, yet President Uhuru Kenyatta declared three days of national mourning during which flags at public buildings flew at half-mast and the people of Kenya prayed for the dead and the injured”.

The party recalled that “In 2012, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari ordered the immediate postponement of all activities long planned to mark his 70th birthday, following the death in a helicopter crash of Gen. Azazi, Gov. Yakowa and others in a helicopter crash in Bayelsa. Such is the stuff of a great leader.

“Even if President Jonathan does not want to mourn the death of the citizens, he should have at least kept a low profile for a few days to avoid a repeat of the disgusting show last February, when he led others to pop champagne corks and clink glasses at the wasteful centenary celebration right after at least 43 school children were massacred in Yobe. Nigerians are now asking; ‘Would the President have returned so quickly to the soapbox if any of his family members had suffered the fate that befell the victims of the blast, or if any of his appointees had been a victim?’

“How can a President whose failure of leadership has led to the untimely deaths of 1,500 mostly civilians in the hands of terrorists this year alone be so numb to the fate and plight of those who voted him into office? Or how else does one describe the action of a President who was in a celebratory mood in Kano on Tuesday, even when the surviving victims are still writhing in pain in various hospitals, the bodies of the victims are still lying cold in the morgue and the fate of dozens of abducted school girls remains unknown?” APC queried

The opposition party urged President Jonathan, as a father, a leader and a human being, to take a moment of deep introspection, to reflect on his actions, adding: “Perhaps he will realize that long after the glitz of office would have dimmed and the retinue of lick-spittle aides would have vanished, a leader would be remembered more for his humanity than his vanities”.

APC said it became necessary for Mr. Jonathan to hearken to the voice of reason because his aides and party officials, desperate not to be pushed off the gravy train, would rather blame everyone but the president and themselves for the woes that have befallen Nigeria under his watch.

“I cannot remember [how I got here]. I only saw myself on the ground, turning and turning. Then someone came and removed the baby.”  Gloria said.

“I’m feeling better, Many have died, but I am alive. I give glory to God,” Gloria stated.

ABUJA BOMB BLAST!!! Please, allow me search for my sister’s remains – man pleads

24 hours after a carefully planted bomb went off, killing no fewer than 100 people and leaving over 176 others with various degrees of injuries, Nyanya Motor Park, the scene of the incidence has turned into a ‘Mecca’ of sort, as people troop out to visit the area.

Motorists passing through the road to Abuja metropolis slowed down to catch a glimpse of the scene, thus causing traffic gridlock on the road. Many others were seen looking down from Nyanya Overhead Bridge.

Stern-looking security and law enforcement agents from the military, police, Department of State Service, DSS, Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, were stationed round the area, warning people not to step closer.
However, an unpleasant smell was oozing out of the place, compelling motorists and onlookers to cover their nostrils.
Among the people who were pushing to gain access to the scene was a 32 year-old man who identified himself as Peter, an uncle of a missing cousin he called Angelina.

“My sister is new in Abuja”
He told Vanguard that his missing cousin, a 23-year-old girl staying with him in Nyanya came to Abuja just two months ago.
According Peter, the girl left the house at 5:30 in the morning to meet up an 8:30 job appointment, but nothing has been heard from her since, even as her phones were switched off.
Peter said he was at the scene to check if he could trace the missing cousin through any means, having gone round the various hospitals where both the dead and survivors were taken to Monday.
The visibly worried man appealed to this reporter to tell security men to allow him have access to where the burnt belongings of the victims were kept, saying he may see any of his cousin’s belongings or ID card of a business centre where she was working.
He said: “She just came to Abuja to seek a job, having finished her National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, programme.
“Angelina has been in Abuja for just two months. Who and where does she know here in Abuja that she would go without calling to inform me in view of the current situation in Nyanya?”

Two Gangstars Rape & Kill 18 Year Old Prostitute In Lagos

Oluwatosin and the hotel

The victim & the hotel
Policemen attached to the Orile Police Division in Lagos State have apprehended two gangsters for allegedly raping and killing an 18-year-old commercial sex worker, Oluwatosin Ami. The suspects, John-Paul Chukwuebuka, 19; and Ebuka Chimudi, 22; belonged to a gang which specialised in luring young ladies to hotels with the aim of dispossessing them of their belongings and raping them. According to police authorities, on April 10, 2013, two members of the gang posed as customers and visited the Happy Day Hotel, Orile.

Oluwatosin was approached by the suspects and she took them into her room at the hotel which she secured at the cost of N3, 500 per day. The suspects were said to have overpowered Oluwatosin and stuffed a cloth in her mouth to prevent her from screaming. She was also bound by the hands, while the suspects took turns in raping her. Afterwards, the suspects were said to have stolen her phone and money before locking her inside the room. The suspects were also said to have taken the key of the room and tossed it into a canal. A relative of the deceased said the following morning, when the hotel attendants wanted to clean the hotel rooms, they knocked on the door of the room where Oluwatosin was, but there was no response.
It was learnt that the  attendants then used a spare key to open the door and the corpse of Oluwatosin was found. Her father, Babatunde, told PUNCH Metro that the matter was reported at the Orile Police Station and his daughter’s corpse was taken to the Mainland Hospital, Yaba. Babatunde said he had no idea that his daughter was a commercial sex worker. He said the family had been looking for her since December last year and had reported her missing at the Adeniji Adele Police Division on the Lagos Island. He said, “My daughter was in JSS3 in 2012 when she dropped out of school. She said she wanted to be a sales girl and we got a job for her, but she did not stay there. Suddenly, in December last year, she left the house and did not return home.
“Her mother and I called her on the telephone several times, but she would say she was fine and putting up in a friend’s place. She used to visit her grandmother, but in January, she stopped picking calls. “All attempts to get her proved abortive. We did not hear anything from her until we received a telephone call a few days ago, saying her corpse had been found in a hotel.” The mother of the deceased, Muibat, lamented that Oluwatosin was her third child that would die within five years. She said the deceased was her first born and she had only two children remaining. She said she did her best as a parent and wondered why her daughter chose such a lifestyle. When our correspondent approached the hotel for comment, the employee at the front desk said the management had given instruction that journalists should not be spoken to.
However, an employee of the hotel told the police that the rule of the house was that more than two patrons should not be in a room at the same time. The employee said he was not aware that Oluwatosin had taken two people into her room. The suspects, in their statements, confessed to killing Oluwatosin, but said it was by mistake. They said they only played a minor role in the crime as the prime suspects were still at large. The police explained that 19-year-old Chukwuebuka was arrested by members of the Odua Peoples Congress at City Point Hotel, Apapa, where he had gone to commit a similar crime. Through Chukwuebuka’s confession, Chimudi was arrested. Chukwuebuka identified other suspects as Williams, Victor, Joshua and Kojo.
He said, “We have been doing this thing for a while now. We have operated in brothels in Ajegunle and Kirikiri. I have raped over five girls, but none of them died. “We operate in hotels where there is loud music and many rooms. We usually use rooms that are not located on the ground floor so if a victim shouts, no one would hear her.”

I’m Not Against Conduct Of 2015 Polls In Adamawa, Borno, Yobe – Shekarau

Governor Ibrahim ShekarauErstwhile Governor of Kano State, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, yesterday denied reports in the media that he is against the conduct of elections in the North-Eastern part of the country as a result of the insecurity challenges confronting the region.

Shekarau had last week after visiting President Goodluck Jonathan at the presidential villa told State House correspondents that securing lives and property in the North-East was more important than conducting the 2015 elections in volatile states there.

His statement was condemned by many prominent politicians from the area including Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State, who said Shekarau had ‘lost it’ since he joined the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, adding that the former governor is a disgrace to the North.

However, Shekarau, in a statement issued by his media aide, Sule Yau Sule, said he made the statement on the conduct of elections in the area based on his assessment of the current security situation.

“Our attention has been drawn to the news item on the conduct of election in the three states of the North-East where a state of emergency was declared. To make the record straight, his Excellency Malam Ibrahim Shekarau is not against conduct of election in those states but attributed such action to the assessment of the security in those areas”, he said.

He stressed that security of lives should always remain upper most, as security agencies are doing their best to ensure the insurgency in the affected states are contained before the elections.

ACF Condemns ‘Senseless And Inhuman Acts Of Terrorism’ Against Nigerians

GEJ-Nyanya4As reactions continue to trail the bomb attack on a motor park in Nyanya, a suburb of Abuja in the Federal Capital Territory on Monday morning, the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has described the incident as a national calamity.

A statement issued in Kaduna by its National Publicity Secretary, Muhammad Ibrahim, on Tuesday, condemned the action, saying it was inhuman and senseless.

The pan-northern socio-political body reiterated its call to the insurgents and other aggrieved groups to explore the path of dialogue to ensure peace in the country, adding “the killing of innocent people and destruction of their property is not a solution to any perceived injustice or grievance.”

“In the last six years, Nigeria has experienced many cases of security challenges like bomb blast, insurgency and gunmen attacks, communal and religious clashes that have culminated into huge loss of lives and destruction of property worth millions of Naira.

“The present insecurity in the country especially in the Northern region has placed our people in a state of hopelessness and helplessness and crippled the socioeconomic activities of the region.

“The measures put in place by various levels of government including a state of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa to combat the activities of insurgents and terrorists have not yielded the desired result.

“This is grave and worrisome considering the frequency of attacks which has become a daily affair with colossal loss of lives and property.

“ACF hereby condemns in strong term the senseless and inhuman act of terrorism being perpetrated by the insurgents and their collaborators against the Nigerian people especially the bomb blast at Nyanya, FCT, where innocent people in pursuit of their legitimate means of livelihood were killed and injured.

“ACF calls on the Federal Government to decisively use all legitimate means and security apparatus at its disposal to tackle the insecurity that is gradually destroying our corporate existence as a nation.

“The need for synergy between the security agencies and the community for intelligence gathering and utilisation is necessary in combating this menace”, the statement concluded.

PDP Rally: Jonathan Calls Kwankwaso A Fraud, Wants Kano Back

President Goodluck Jonathan was in Kano State yesterday in for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rally, where he described Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as a fraudster for embezzling allowances meant for party delegates during the 2010 PDP Presidential primaries.

In his reaction to newspaper reports which quoted Kwankwaso as saying he regretted voting for him in 2011 general election, Jonathan described Kwankwaso’s outburst as a lie, pointing out that Kwankwaso never identified with him politically.

In a swift response, Governor Kwankwaso fired back accusing the president of being insensitive to the mood of Nigerians by embarking on ‘merry-making trips’ when the nation is mourning those who died in Abuja bomb blast last Monday.

Several Nigerians on Social Media had before the president’s Abuja trip discussed how insensitive it would be for a president to embark on party rally trips after lives were just lost to a bomb blast in his country, with many vouching for him, saying he would not attend the rally.

Jonathan was however in Kano for PDP unity rally yesterday, where he told a multitude of party faithful that converged on the Polo ground that Kwankwaso had been busy making noise “but we talk less and this is the time to expose him.”

“I could vividly remember that the Kano State governor, Kwankwaso, did not vote for me during the primary and secondary elections in 2011, he was part of those who worked against me during that period and did not celebrate with me after the victory.

“The allowances sent by my party campaign office for election purposes were taken away by Kwankwaso without giving anybody a Kobo. How can he say he voted for me?”

He asked Kwankwaso to explain the whereabouts of over N250 billion disbursed to local government councils between 2011 and now, stressing that this, perhaps, explained the absence of development at the 44 local government areas of Kano State.

“Some of you would be asking questions why the President did not wear PDP dress in the rally; I decided to appear this way because there is somebody here in Kano that said anybody that wears hat is a devil and I would explain in detail the federal government projects here in Kano. I will then leave Kano people to judge me”

President Jonathan disclosed that his administration had awarded N14 billion dual carriageway that would link Kano and Katsina, noting that this was in addition to two major flyovers being constructed at strategic locations in the city to aid smooth vehicular movement.

“Kwankwaso collected N255 billion local government federal allocation from June 2011 to date but nothing was done in the local government areas in the state.

“Despite all sorts of bad names Kwankwaso called me, including devil, Kano is one of the major beneficiaries of Federal Government projects since we assumed office.”

Commenting on the upsurge in insurgency, President Jonathan declared that “terrorists cannot stop this country from growing from strength to strength and I must assure you it would soon be a thing of the past.

“Terrorists will not stop Nigerians from moving and we must unite to fight them and we would continue to encourage the security agencies to redouble their efforts at dismantling the insurgents.”

On the 2015 general election, the President declared that “Kano must return to the PDP, and the stolen mandate of our party to the other party must be reclaimed.”

In his address, National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Ahmad Adamu Mu’azu, said Kano was a PDP state and
would return to the mainstream of the party in 2015.

“Everything possible would be put on the ground to bring back the party into Government House, Kano.

“The PDP is ready and will remain always ready to reclaim its entire stolen mandate in other states,” Mu’azu said.

Oritsejafor Calls Perpetrators Of Abuja Bombing Pigs

National President of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, yesterday said whenever the perpetrators of heinous crimes like the Abuja bomb blast die, their corpses should be fed to pigs because they are on the same level with pigs.

“I completely condemn the bomb attack on a motor park in Nyanya, a satellite community on the outskirts of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. This is very inhuman, ungodly and barbaric.

“I don’t even have the adjectives to describe what these mad people have done. As far as I am concerned, the perpetrators are not human beings and in my own opinion, when they finally die their corpses should be given to pigs because they are on the same level with pigs.

“How do you do this kind of thing to human beings? So definitely, they cannot be humans. It is so unfortunate.

“To make it worse, there are people who are sponsoring them. As the judgment of God comes upon them, the judgment will also come on those who are sponsoring them.

“Anybody who has given N1 to these people, whether they are local people or foreign financiers, the same judgment will come upon them and their children.” They will not escape it. So those are my words,” Oritsejafor said in a statement.

My Ex Is Driving Me Crazy [Advice Needed]

According to him, he is confused right now and needs advice from matured readers who can reason above the mistakes he has made and help him out. Read his story below;

Dear readers, please I need your advice because I’m very close to doing something terrible to my baby mama. The story may seem a bit crazy but I really need your help.

I met this lady about 3 years ago, she was beautiful, tall and seemed really innocent, but very willing to learn. We hit off on a romantic road and started dating after a little while.

In the course of our relationship, she learned how to smoke from me; I didn’t mind because I’m a smoker, but then she started to overdo it and got addicted to all kinds of drugs, not just cigarettes. Her addiction never really bothered me that much until she got pregnant for me and gave birth to our daughter.

We did our introduction last year and decided we would stop smoking, or at least she would stop since she in now a mother; but she refused to drop her bad habits. I got frustrated, took my son away from her and broke up the relationship.

I’m now dating a good, gentle, respectful and God fearing girl whom I met in February this year, she is the perfect wife material and I intend to marry her. However, my former girlfriend who still has a strong smoking habit is threatening our relationship. She is claiming I destroyed her life because she picked up smoking from me.

She want me to give our son back to her, but I doubt her ability to train him in the right path. Last week, She came with some boys to fight me and they took my son. I’m planning a revenge soon, I’m not too kin on training this boy, because I’m busy with other things at the moment, but I’m worried her drug addiction would put our son in danger. I’ve also considered picking up our boy and taking him to stay with my grandmother who trained me.

What should I do? I’m so confused right now. Do I leave my son with his drug addicted mother or forcefully get him back so my current responsible girlfriend will help train him up? Am I really to blame for my ex-girlfriend’s problems? Please I need only matured advice.

Insecurity: Jonathan Insensitive To The Plight Of Nigerians – Kwankwaso

Kano State Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwanwaso has accused President Goodluck Jonathan of being insensitive to the yearnings of Nigerians, lamenting that at a time when the nation should be mourning the Nyanya bomb explosion that left many either dead or injured, the president decided to embark on what he described as “merry-making trips”.

A statement issued by the Director of Press and Public Relations Halilu Ibrahim Dantiye, quoted Governor Kwankwaso as saying that, “at a time when several innocent lives have been lost, when many of the victims are in hospital seeking blood donations to survive, the president is gallivanting round the country in the name of PDP unity rally”.

The governor who was said to have spoken in Hausa during the matriculation ceremony of students of Northwest University, Kano, at the Government House, “wondered why the president should be travelling aimlessly with taxpayers’ money, while the common man is being killed daily because of failure of the Federal government to adequately protect lives and property”.

Governor Kwankwaso chided the President for justifying, promoting, and sustaining corruption, pointing out that despite the allegation of corruption against the Minister of Aviation and the missing $20 billion oil funds, for instance, the president remained silent on such issues during his illegal campaign visit to Kano.

According to Kwankwaso, “The man came to Kano to smear our image but thank God, the man gave me free publicity by mentioning my name over 50 times in a 15 minute address.

“The President, his Vice and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation are vultures. They want the PDP to die and feast on its carcass, but personally their present disposition is fertilizer to my future political aspiration.

“Supposing I decide to contest for the number one seat in this country, I will beg APC, APGA and Labour Party not to cast their votes for me – I want to assure you that with the PDP vote that I will garner, definitely I will defeat the incumbent President hands down,” the governor maintained.

He said the Federal Government, under Jonathan has failed the people of Kano state and indeed other Nigerians by not doing what is expected of a responsible government to better their lives, adding that in Kano for instance, the Jonathan administration can only boast of constructing one bridge of not more than N2 billion.

New York Police Disband Muslim Spy Unit

NYPD muslim spy

New York’s police department has disbanded an undercover spying operation against Muslims which rights groups said was baseless and unfairly targeted people solely because of their religion.

Civil liberty groups on Wednesday welcomed the disbandment of the “Demographics Unit” while the mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio, said the disbandment would allow police more opportunity to “go after the real bad guys”.

The surveillance programme sent detectives into Muslim neighbourhoods to eavesdrop on conversations and watch day-to-day activities. Police also infiltrated mosques and student groups.

The programme was revealed in a series of articles by the Associated Press news agency, which reported that officers had infiltrated Muslim organisations following the attacks of September 11, 2001.

The disbandment comes after a federal judge, sitting in New Jersey, threw out a lawsuit last month brought by several New Jersey Muslims who claimed police illegally targeted them solely because of their religion.

The judge said the city persuasively argued that its surveillance was intended as an anti-terrorism, not an anti-Muslim measure.

However, a New York Times report quoted Stephen Davis, the department’s chief spokesman, as saying that the police department was changing its tactics.

“Understanding certain local demographics can be a useful factor when assessing the threat information that comes into New York City virtually on a daily basis,” he said.

“In the future, we will gather that information, if necessary, through direct contact between the police precincts and the representatives of the communities they serve.”

Police officials and the former New York mayor, Michael Bloomberg, who left office in January, had defended the programme as vital to anti-terrorism efforts.

Mayor De Blasio, who criticised the unit while running for office, said the disbandment was a “critical step forward in easing tensions between the police and the communities they serve, so that our cops and our citizens can help one another go after the real bad guys.”

Hina Shamsi, director of the American Civil Liberties Union, said the disbanded unit was only one part of “a huge, discriminatory surveillance programme”.

“We look forward to an end to all aspects of the bias-based policing that has stigmatised New York’s Muslim communities and done them such great harm,” she said.

Ibori Asset Confiscation Case: British Judges Admits Confusion

James Ibori

Proceedings in the asset confiscation case of former Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori at Southwark Crown Court, London was last week bogged down as Judge Anthony Pitts repeatedly said in the course of the submission of James Ibori’s defence team that he was confused.

According to him, he was becoming even much more confused ‘now’ as the case being argued by Ibori’s lead counsel, Mr. Ivan Krolic, continued to unfold.

Expressing his frustration, Judge Pitts addressed Ibori’s lead counsel: “There was confusion though not in your mind, but there is a deep confusion in my own mind.”

Responding to the judge’s confession, Krolic said: “If the court is confused, has the court listened to the arguments at all?

“We have proved our position to the court from the outset. Ibori has made his case clear. We also have made our case clear as the counsels. If you had allowed me to finish my submission, you would not have been confused.”

Quoting extensively from the transcript of the proceedings from the time the case started, and certain decisions made by the judge, Krolic said: “Both sides have conducted this confiscation trial, both sides have closed their case, the defence has cross-examined witnesses. To now suddenly say to one party, I want you to investigate and change your case so that you could win, in my opinion, no court would give such an order.”

He continued: “The court is the sole decider of the law and the court has to be impartial, each side has experienced counsels and solicitors, there is no need for the court to be involved.”

Making it clear to the judge that he had in the course of the proceeding last year, blocked the attempt by the crown prosecution to insert Assumption 72AA to all the items (thus tasking Ibori with proving his innocence instead of the prosecution proving him guilty), Krolic said, “your honour, while applying your discretion on the application for Assumption 72AA to be introduced into all the items, said it would amount not only changing the goal post but moving the goal post from the field of play.”

Reacting to Krolic, Judge Pitts asked: “Are you saying if in the course of a case and as the case unfolds, I noticed that I have made some decisions, are you saying I cannot revisit it’?

To this, Krolic replied: “Your honour has no power to do so.”

The judge not satisfied, asked Krolic again ‘are you saying a judge can’t revisit a discretion applied having realised some confusion as the case develops”

Krolic replied again, “……the court can’t say I am confused, telling one party, I am going to let you start again. Once a decision is made by the court, you can’t undo it, you can’t retrace the past. And if the court is confused, that is what the advocates are there for.”

Insisting on his legal arguments that the judge can’t suddenly grant the prosecution’s request to let the case start afresh, Krolic said: “You have rejected their application in October, your honour was not confused because you gave clear reasons.”

The judge then said: “But the case could be reopened.”

Krolic said if the case was reopened, it will be a different case entirely and the judge asked ‘why is it a different case.”

Krolic replied: “the real problem is that the defence would now have to satisfy the burden of proof taking it away from the prosecution.” The fireworks will continue today.

As the resumes today at the Southwark Crown Court in London, the court will attempt to break the logjam that bogged it down all through last week; to try Ibori afresh or not.

Meanwhile, thousands of Nigerians in the Diaspora demonstrated outside the court last Friday. One of their banners stated: “Why the spotlight on James Ibori alone, FG, NNPC, EFCC, IPCC – Where is our missing $10bn?”

Help! My Husband Hasn’t Slept With Me Since We Got Married [Advice Needed]

My husband and I were raised in conservative religious families. It was natural for us that we had to wait until after marriage to consummate our relationship. To be honest, we never even kissed or talked about s*x while going out.

Four months into our married life, I’m still a virgin. We get along greatly, but I love my man and would very much like to go “all the way”. But every time I show initiative, he won’t even allow me to take off my underwear. All we do is engage in petting and some sort of foreplay, and sometimes he asks me to satisfy him orally.

I’ve tried talking to him about this, as we’re both grown-ups and in a loving (oh, I hope so!) relationship, we shouldn’t be ashamed of discussing such things.

Nothing works.

I think about it a lot. Actually, I’ve started wondering if he is suppressing some homosexual urges and married me as a “cover”. But he was so caring and sweet when we dated. What may be wrong with him? Am I too pressing? Can I do anything about this?

Have you ever asked what these two young Nigerians, sorry imolites are
out there to achieve by their dogged activities or struggles? Have you
ever paused to assess the contributions  made so far by these
pro-active, visionary and powerful modern day biblical Mishark,
Shedrack and Abadinego, who refused to surrender to blackmails and
intimidation but swore to uphold the principle of granite
determination in order to re-order a visionless and lawless society?

It appears  fate have brought together Citizen Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha
and comrade Kenneth Uwadi to pursue one  singular goal; Achieving the
tenets  of Accountable  Governance  through persuasive critisms
.Citizen Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha and comrade Kenneth Uwadi are so to
say the young GANI FAWEHEHMIS. They will not let you go until you have
rendered your account to the governed. Try googling the  “four
internet writers that must be feared” in Imo State according to one
Imo bom USA based social commentator who alerted Governor Okorocha
after being sworn-in on the 29th May 2011. At the top echelon of these
eggheads, comes Citizen Ikenna Samuelson and comrade Kenneth Uwadi
coming second. In the south east and Nigeria at large, these two sons
of Imo State are among those respected as far as internet exploits is
concerned. If you do not acknowledge the ingenuity in the man
Samuelson, nature and the global community has endowed a prestigious
seat for him. Comrade Uwadi has proved that the pen is mightier than
the sword. With pen, Citizen Samuelson smoked out the regime of former
Governor of the State. In the end, the then Governor on the 22nd of
December 2013, five days after Citizen Iwuoha resigned his
appointment as the Senior Special Assistant to Imo Speaker, phoned the
social crusader with these words on marble: “ My brother,  my son and
my in-law. You are indeed a great man. You are the Mandela of Imo
State. By your resignation, you have proved you never hated me. If
your father is a criminal, you will expose him”.

That was the magic statement that made Citizen Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha
to cork his pen and forgave completely the former Governor of Imo
State, Dr Ikedi Ohakim, on the 22nd of December 2013 historic
telephone chat. Citizen Samuelson burst into laughter and truly
forgave him and genuinely did so in the way Dr Nelson Mandela (Our
Madiba) forgave his white imperialists that incarcerated him and
impeded the accountable governance in South Africa for 27 years.

On the 28th of the same December 2013, Citizen Samuelson reciprocated
by attending the Ohakim’s daughter’s wedding at Okohia in Isiala-Mbano
LGA. To know citizen Samuelson and Comrade Kenneth Uwadi better,
AFRAID OF”. The Uwadis and the Iwuoha’s are the philosopher kings of
our time. Hate them, love them. In the Philosophical words of MGUM RC,
“Ideas can fly if given wings. Ideas have wings if allowed to fly “.
The Iwuohas and the Uwadis are the ideas that seek to propel the wings
of Accountable Governance in Imo State and in the South East
generally. The two pursue you if you fail to account for your

Comrade Kenneth Uwadi has through his crusade for good governance made
indelible marks in the minds of people. He is a known name in the
socio-political circle. He has indeed and in truth reshaped the
society with his gospel of good leadership. History will continue to
remember him. At the Imo State House of Assembly, Citizen Ikenna
Samuelson Iwuoha built an unbeatable legacy. He built the Benjamin
Uwajumogu of his dream. He tirelessly built the Uwajumogu of his
choice. He effectively controlled the entire Assembly through his
ingenuity. He took care of the Assembly correspondents of which I am a
beneficiary. He built bridges of truth, trust, love, good relationship
and structures across the entire state. He convinced the speaker of
the Assembly to furnish the office of the chairman of NUJ. He equally
got the speaker to sponsor the state delegation of NUJ to Abuja on a
National Convention in 2012. Citizen Samuelson paid antenatal bills
for many correspondents wives. He provided shelter for many people. He
got the speaker to host Imo based editors and sponsored burial and
wedding ceremonies of correspondents. Citizen Samuelson is a leader to
beat. He increased our monthly stipends from N3,000 to N5,000 and
finally to N10,000. Citizen Iwuoha increased the number of
correspondents from 21 to 36, all in a bid to widen the information
base. At the end of every month, Samuelson would provide food stuffs
and other items for correspondents’ families who visit him. These are
life pictures and not Nollywood movies. We are talking about a
political appointee who has a human face. An appointee with genuine
milk of human kindness.

Samuelson held the Imo Assembly together. The opposition dreaded to
attack the Assembly and its speaker because of the great lion of the
pen. Yet Citizen Samuelson is not a journalist. He studied Business
Management. He is a common trader in leadership position. All these
inadvertently catapulted speaker Uwajumogu to the position of a
philosopher king in Imo state. Unfortunately, the same speaker
Uwajumogu and the remnants of his aides have bungled this chance which
Citizen Samuelson offered him on the plater of gold. Now those who
think they can beat the dance drum have stepped up their visionless
dance against the State. Speaker Uwajumogu as a person is a good man
but he surrounded himself with uncaring and in- human personnages who
have by their actions in the last few months ruined a very promising
career. I do not give a damn to any insinuation about my pen
relationship with Citizen Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha. I am a good product
of the University of Nigeria Nsukka. I have walked on the beautiful
BOULER VARDE OF ELYSEE Avenue Paris France. Meditated in the forest of
West German Zaulands of Zabrucken. I have travelled. I have travelled.
I have seen men who care and I respect constituted authorities, but
will fight a seemingly unaccountable governance and legislative
rascality that are blind to the people’s plight.

Comrade Kenneth Uwadi and Citizen Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha have defined
leadership. This leadership is a scarce commodity in Nigeria.
Therefore, Comrade Kenneth Uwadi, Citizen Ikenna Samuelson Iwuoha and
their formidable team are mandated to fight at those systems or
individuals that dwindle the chances of jobless Imo youths to secure
employment. They have been mandated to expose those politicians who
parade themselves as leaders but whose real intentions are to rape our
economy. They have been mandated to fight crime and injustice in our
state Imo and beyond. They have been mandated to pursue their current
fight at the Imo State House of Assembly involving fraud and obvious
corruption at the Imo Speakers office to its logical conclusion. One
man cannot be allowed to appropriate fraudulently the sum of over N4
billion of tax payers money while Imo Youths have descended to a
pitiable level of keke drivers, MAN-U, Barker, Real Madrid and Chelsea
fans in an empty stomach.

Kwankwaso: Jonathan Not Welcome In Kano

GEJ-KwankwasoGovernor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso of Kano State said yesterday that residents will not welcome President Goodluck Jonathan today to the state.

The governor, who spoke in Kano, ahead of the president’s visit to the state, where he is expected to receive the former governor of the state – Malam Ibrahim Shekarau – to the Peoples Democratic Party fold, said Jonathan has done nothing to improve the peoples’ standard of living since he assumed office.

Kwankwaso said: “I regret voting for Jonathan in 2011. He has not done anything to move the nation forward.

“Only a few people are enjoying in Nigeria and this is at the expense of other citizens.

“We are still waiting to hear the truth about the alleged missing funds, which led to the suspension of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.

“If someone alleges that N20 million is missing in one of our ministries, I will investigate the matter and if I find the allegation to be true, I must praise the person for a job well done and then take appropriate action”.

The governor enjoined the electorate to vote the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015, saying the party is the most powerful party in Africa.

Kwankwaso also accused the PDP of buying members over, saying the APC has, however, taken measures to tackle the issue.

The governor appealed to APC supporters to exercise more patience as the party has put necessary machinery in place, which would ensure its victory in 2015.

He said those calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to conduct elections in the Northeast have lost focus.

How We Entertainers Helped Politicians Kill Our Fans In Nyanya – Singer

Nigerian singer, Etcetera has shared his opinion on the Abuja bomb blast that occurred yesterday killing 71 people and injuring 124.

He blamed Nigerian entertainers partly for the attack at Nyanya Motor Park yesterday.

Read below

For God’s sake, can Somebody please call Dbanj, Don Jazzy, Onyeka Onwenu, Duncan Mighty, Stephanie Okereke, Genevieve Nnaji, Funke Akindele, Omotola, Rita Dominic, Aki and Pawpaw, Sammy Okposo, Sunny Neji, Maleke, Okey Bakassi, Jay Jay Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo, Daddy Showkey, Richard Mofe Damijo, Kwam 1 and other entertainers that have at one time or the other been seen dining with politicians? Can you please tell them that there has been a bomb blast in Nyanya?

Can you include pictures of the mutilated bodies? Please don’t forget to tell them that most of the dead might have been lovers of their music and movies and cheered them in every concert and football matches they played both at club level and the national team. Tell them that their CDs and Movies were bought by those dead fans for inspiration and because they wanted to feel alive and ease off the daily tensions faced everyday in this country.

That the Jingles done by Dbanj, Don Jazzy, Sammy Okposo, Onyeka Onwenu and other entertainers might have convinced some of those who have died in different Boko Haram raids or bad roads or lack of proper healthcare facilities to vote for politicians who have failed them in all ramifications? The same politicians that failed to protect the lives of those shredded bodies in Nyanya?

That some of the dead fans in Nyanya might have even spent their little earnings to attend their concerts in Abuja and environs? Have you as an entertainer ever sat down to reflect on the fact that each time we give our voices to enhance the career of these politicians knowing they mean no good for this country that we are bringing more hardship and even death to our fans?

Why devote precious hours in the studio composing songs asking your fans to vote for politicians whose past stinks more than the dustbin at Ojota?

How do you feel listening to those songs today knowing that Mr Politician failed you and your die-hard fans? Can you give back those millions to bring back the lives of those dead fans in Nyanya, Jos, Maiduguri, Agatu in Benue? I guess not, because frolicking with the devil makes u perpetually his.

2015 is around the corner. Many of us entertainers will be called upon to do jingles, attend rallies wearing branded T-shirts in support of these same politicians. Millions of naira will be paid to your bank accounts. Thousands of bottles of MOET will be popped for you to feel good at different rally points while you convince your fans to join the bandwagon as part of the special few who voted for change.

Right now, some of us entertainers must be licking our lips in anticipation of the naira windfall come 2015. Let your conscience be your pilot. That is if you have one. May the souls of those fans who have died because of insecurity and corruption haunt every entertainer who refuses to repent from selling his or her talent for money at the expense of a better Nigeria.

And may the souls of all our faithfully departed fans REST IN PEACE. Amen!

Okorocha, Fashola, Aregbesola, Others Condemn Abuja Bomb Blast

The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), made up of Governors of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has condemned in strong terms the bomb blast that happened in Abuja on Monday that was suspected to have been carried out by the Islamic insurgents, Boko Haram.

According to a statement issued by the chairman of the forum, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, it called for an end to the senseless killing of innocent people which figure has risen to 1000.

 * PGF chairman, Rochas Okorochas condemns the bomb blast that happened in Abuja on Monday

It reads: “It is regrettable that the deaths of innocent Nigerians have become a daily occurrence with little respite. In the last two weeks alone, about 1,000 Nigerians have perished.

“We also wish to commiserate with the parents and families of the candidates who were killed over the weekend while trying to sit for the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) in Maiduguri, Borno State. The tragic deaths indicate major failure of government.”

The governors, through the statement, also noted that the security situation in the country has risen to an alarming stage.

“As if failing to tackle the Boko Haram insurgency is not bad enough, the security situation has deteriorated to a level where so-called gunmen are now on the rampage across Nigeria, killing and maiming at will with no response from our poorly equipped and informed security operatives. Is it too much for government to, at the very least, identify the perpetrators of these terrible crimes?

“Without meaning to gain political capital out of these unending disasters, it is plain the government has run out of ideas in the fight against insurgency, ethnic and communal clashes as well as the spate of armed robberies and kidnappings across Nigeria.”

Nyanya Blast: Edwin Clark Urges Every Nigerian To Financially Assist Military

Delivering his speech at the ongoing National Conference currently being held in Abuja, Chief Edwin Clark has urged every Nigerian, including delegates, to contribute more to end the scourge of insecurity in the country.

According to the elder statesman, security challenges Nigeria is facing are a national issue, not only a North or South issue.

He believes that country’s military are doing their job, but additionally support from the country people is required, as “soldiers alone cannot fight this war”.

Edwin Clark was quoted saying:

“Everyday we sit down here deliberating. What are we debating about? Will Nigeria be eradicated before we know it is here with us?.. This conference must send a message to the authorities that something must be strongly done about it. Instead of me going to eat at 2 pm, monetise it and send it to those who are dying fighting this scourge. The time has come for all of us to do something.”

It would be recalled that a dire explosion rocked Nyanya bus station, located on the outskirts of Abuja, Monday morning. As a result of the bombing 71 people died and 124 were injured (confirmed by police). However, the number of casualties is likely to rise.

Though the cause of the fire could not be ascertained, the talented singer who is on wheelchair has said everything is under control even as he assured fans that he is safe.

Yinka is one of the most sought after gospel artistes in the country. He was one of the major entertainers at the elaborate dinner party held by the First Lady, Patience Jonathan sometime in August, 2013.

He became a household name after he was involved in a ghastly automobile accident in 1997, which damaged his spinal cord, and paralyzed him from the waist down.

With hit tracks like “Experience,” “Transformation” etc, Ayefele’s music is a staple diet at parties all across the country.

Famous ‘White Widow’ Linked To Abuja Bombing

World wide terrorist, ‘White Widow’ Samantha Lewthwaite, has been linked to the huge terror attack which occurred today in Abuja.

The huge explosion destroyed forty buses and left a sickening trail of death and destruction as fuel tanks on nearby vehicles also exploded amid the heat of the blast.

But while nobody has officially claimed responsibility, security sources, according to reports fear the bombing may have been a revenge attack for the death of Lewthwaite’s mentor two weeks ago – al-Shabaab terror chief Makaburi, aka Sheikh Abubakar Shariff Ahmed.

A senior security source said agents across Africa were on high alert after the assassination of Makaburi – reportedly by the UK and US funded Kenyan Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) 14 days ago. Adding that Lewthwaite and her associates “wanted revenge”.
The source said:
“Makaburi was always believed to be at the very top of the hierarchy of terror organisation al-Shabaab. Intelligence suggests he introduced Samantha Lewthwaite to many influential figures within the al-Shabaab network. He guided her on her path to Jihad. His murder was seen as yet another act of war.”

Lewthwaite, 30, is believed to be in Nigeria, Kenya or Somalia, where Islamist terror networks are closely linked, making it far easier for her to evade detection than in Europe.  The daughter of a British Army soldier, she is already on Interpol’s Most Wanted list in connection with seven murders as well as the siege of the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya in September last year which left 67 dead and nearly 200 injured.
She was reportedly caught at a checkpoint in Nigeria just six months ago – but managed to bribe her way to freedom.

She is also believed to have widely used the alias ‘Natalie Webb’ and travelled on a forged South African passport. She has been on the run since January 2012 and is now one of the most wanted international fugitives in the world, officially being hunted by 190 countries!

Local police, however, have linked today’s bombing to the Boko Haram terrorist network.

Commissioner: Lagos Electricity May Not Improve Till 2018

Lagos State would not witness any significant improvement in electricity supply until 2018, this is according to the state’s commissioner for Budget and Economic planning, Ben Akabueze.

Speaking with newsmen after a meeting with power investors at the end of the Lagos Economic Summit last Thursday, Mr. Akabueze said the poor electricity supply in Lagos State won’t improve sooner than five years time.

“The truth from what we heard, it won’t be anything sooner than five years to see any significant improvement in the power situation and in the power sector. When they say short term, we are talking about five years,’ Akabueze said.

The commissioner said the 7th Lagos Economic Summit, Ehingbeti 2014, was held to present an enabling environment for investors who are majorly from Europe.

“Well, I think we’ve provided the platform and a good one at that to discuss the issues; and a lot of people who attended now understand better, the nature of the power industry, what the issues are, what it will take to solve them.

The commissioner also allayed fears that the economic summit might be jettisoned by the coming administration.

The 7th edition of the Lagos economy summit, Ehingbeti 2014, held between April 8- 10, 2014, at the Eko convention centre of Eko Hotel in Lagos.

Abuja Bomb Blast: Atiku Urges Jonathan To Accept Foreign Assistance

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has expressed anger and sadness at the bombings of the Nyanya Bus Park in the suburbs of Abuja that left scores dead and many injured.

In a statement by his media office in Abuja, the former Vice President said it is time for Nigeria to accept foreign assistance with fighting terrorism in the country while also calling for a step-up in intelligence, listening posts, picking up trends and conversations with a view to pre-empting the terrorist attacks.

There is an urgent need for the government of Nigeria to review its methods and strategies for dealing with terrorism,” the former vice president said.

Atiku said the bombing which occurred at the Nyanya park casts doubts on the Federal Government’s claims of containing the crisis to the fringes of the country.

He explained that new strategies are needed to stop terrorism in the country as this needless bloodletting cannot continue unabated.

Atiku who described those behind the bombings as evil and callous with scant regard for the sanctity of human life, said this recent bombing should be a wake-up call to all Nigerians on the imperative of ending the blame game and working together to end this scourge.

“As a country, we are not doing enough of focusing on and implementing solutions. We are all guilty of expending endless energy on handwringing and the trading of blame, none of which is able to save lives or change the status quo,” Atiku said.

While expressing his condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones in the bombings, Atiku urged well-meaning Nigerians in and around the Federal Capital Territory to heed the call of National Blood Transfusion Centre (NBTC) by voluntarily donating blood at the National Hospital Abuja to save the lives of survivors.

Again…Monalisa Chinda and Lanre Nzeribe part ways

In an interview with Punch in February 2014, Monalisa Chinda described her boyfriend of two years as ‘just a friend’. Some of us

found it odd at the time but what we didn’t know was that the off/on couple had parted ways…again.

“Monalisa and Lanre? That ended when…about two, three months ago. I doubt they will reconcile this time.” A source close to the couple told LIB

Monalisa not only walked away from the relationship with Lanre, she also walked away from the business venture they both started together, Monalisa magazine, which made its debut in November 2013.

“You told her to get the f*** out of your house before you killed her’ prosecutor says in court

Oscar Pistorius left the witness box in tears twice today during a fierce line of questioning from the state prosecutor who accused him of doctoring his testimony to fit evidence at the scene.

‘You’re not using your emotional state as an escape are you?’ Mr Nel said

Mr Nel also tried to pin Pistorius on whether he intended to shoot at the intruder, stating that he did not fire a warning shot. He alleged the runner changed his aim with his 9mm pistol to ensure that he hit Reeva Steenkamp as she fell back against a magazine rack after the first shot. (An image of the four bullet holes in the toilet door through which Pistorius shot his girlfriend seen above)

‘You never gave them a chance, in your version,’ Mr Nel said, building the prosecution case that Pistorius shot to kill. Please continue. This lawyer made some valid points…

Courtroom reconstruction of the toilet in which Miss Steenkamp was shot. The cricket bat which the athlete used to break down the toilet door can also be seen

Pistorius said he fired four times through the closed toilet door in his home last year after hearing a ‘wood’ sound that he mistook for the door being opened by an intruder who was about to attack him.
The athlete said that, in retrospect, the noise he probably heard was the magazine holder being moved by his girlfriend.

Mr Nel said Pistorius killed Miss Steenkamp intentionally after a fight and is lying about fearing an intruder.

He said Pistorius heard Miss Steenkamp, struck by the first shot, fall against the magazine rack and that he used that sound to adjust his aim.
‘I’m saying you heard the magazine rack and you changed your aim,’ Mr Nel said to the Paralympic champion.
‘I wouldn’t have heard anyone fall inside of the toilet while I was shooting,’ Pistorius replied to Mr Nel, though directing his gaze to Judge Thokozile Masipa, who will decide on the verdict.

Pistorius said he searched desperately for Miss Steenkamp in the dark bedroom after the shooting, feeling across the bed, on the floor next to it and behind a curtain before realising it might have been her in the toilet.

Mr Nel asked Pistorius why he did not turn on the lights and also check to see if the bedroom door was open and if Miss Steenkamp had fled that way as gunshots had been fired.
‘It’s one of the things that make your version unbelievable,’ Mr Nel said.

Earlier, Pistorius broke down after being asked to repeat what he said as he moved towards the bathroom where he shot Reeva Steenkamp after hearing a noise he thought was a burglar.
‘I screamed “get the f*** out of my house”,’ he wailed in a high-pitched voice. Mr Nel alleged that Pistorius shouted the same words at Miss Steenkamp during a row.

Prosecutor Gerrie Nel

Investigating officer Captain Mike van Aardt (right) is asked by state prosecutor Gerrie Nel (centre) to demonstrate the opening and closing of the door through which Reeva Steenkamp was shot

Pistorius wept uncontrollably, prompting the judge to adjourn the hearing to allow him to compose himself.

After the judge left the courtroom, Pistorius stood sobbing with his body trembling and turned away from the gallery.

Mr Nel also tried to pin Pistorius on whether he intended to shoot at the intruder, but the 27-year-old said he did not intend to do so and that he was terrified at the time.

‘I didn’t have time to think about what I wanted to do,’ Pistorius said.
That prompted Mr Nel to question whether Pistorius was changing his legal strategy from ‘self-defence’ to ‘involuntary action’.

He later said Pistorius did not fire a warning shot.
Pistorius said that when he shot he had no idea who was behind the door, in response to Mr Nel’s remark that he did not know whether a child, an unarmed burglar or more than one person could have been in the toilet.
‘You never gave them a chance, in your version,’ Mr Nel said, building the prosecution case that Pistorius shot to kill.

Proceedings were halted on another occasion when he wept while denying that he intentionally shot his girlfriend.

When pressed to state what his defence was, Pistorius said: ‘I heard the noise and I did not have time to interpret it and fired out of fear.
Mr Nel replied: ‘You know exactly what you were doing, you fired at Reeva. You fired at her.’
Fighting back tears, Pistorius cried out ‘I did not fire at Reeva’ – forcing the judge adjourn the hearing.

When he returned to the stand, Mr Nel accused Pistorius of crying not out of grief for his girlfriend, but because he was getting his testimony confused.

‘I’m going to argue that you got emotional because you got your defences mixed up,’ Mr Nel claimed, saying the Olympian he had changed his account from one of self-defence to involuntary action.
Mr Nel said the only explanation for why Miss Steenkamp was standing up against the door when she was shot was because she had been running away from Pistorius.

‘All the screams and shouts were at her,’ Mr Nel said. ‘She fled for her life’.
The prosecution has said Pistorius’s account of a mistaken shooting is a lie.
Earlier, Mr Nel told the court: ‘Today, I’m going to prove your version of events is untrue. That you tailored your version, concocted your story.

‘Your version is so improbable that it cannot reasonably possibly be true.’

He went on to claim that Pistorius had argued with Miss Steenkamp shortly before the shooting.
‘It’s the state’s case, Mr Pistorius, that she wanted to leave and that you weren’t sleeping, you were both awake,’ said Mr Nel.
‘That’s not correct my lady, that’s untrue,’ Pistorius replied softly.
‘There was an argument,’ Mr Nel said, drawing another denial.

The prosecutor’s relentless questioning has elicited tears and taut replies from the world-famous double amputee, who insists he and the 29-year-old model were in a loving relationship.
Mr Nel also complained that Pistorius was being evasive and challenged him: ‘Today I pick up you’re not sure about things, is anything wrong?’ Nel asked. ‘You’re fine?’
Pistorius grew increasingly restless during the morning, wiping his face, pinching the bridge of his nose and clenching his jaw.

Later, Mr Nel accused Pistorius of being a stickler for detail on some matters, in contrast to his frequent statements in court that he could not remember aspects of his evidence.
Mr Nel noted that Pistorius earlier said he warned Ms Steenkamp to call police about an intruder in a whisper, contradicting later evidence that he spoke in a ‘low tone’.

The prosecutor also said blood spatter evidence indicated that the athlete’s statement about the location of a duvet in the bedroom was false.
Pistorius has said the duvet was on the bed and that police photographs of the bed cover on the floor suggest that police moved it there after the shooting.
Mr Nel said a pattern of blood drops on the duvet and on the carpet nearby show that it was on the floor before police arrived, and that its location amounts to evidence that the couple had been having an argument.

The prosecutor also alleged that Miss Steenkamp was in the process of getting dressed in the midst of the night-time argument and wanted to leave Pistorius’s house shortly before the shooting.

A pair of jeans strewn on the bedroom floor showed Miss Steenkamp was putting them on, Mr Nel said, and contrasted with her character as a neat person who would not leave clothes lying around.
Pistorius responded that Miss Steenkamp was neat, but he said the jeans were inside out and therefore showed that Miss Steenkamp had not been in the process of donning them.

Mr Nel also questioned why the athlete did not give fuller details of his account in his bail statement last February, days after he killed Miss Steenkamp.

Pistorius had said then that there was a noise from the bathroom that caused him to think that people had broken into his house, but did not explain until later that it was the bathroom window sliding across and slamming against the frame.

The athlete said on Monday that he was on medication and traumatised while in a jail cell at the time of his bail statement, which could account for any discrepancies with his later evidence.
Mr Nel also said it was improbable that, in Pistorius’s story, Miss Steenkamp did not ask him why he was getting out of bed in the middle of the night to retrieve fans from the edge of the balcony.

“I wanna pout for a few minutes. I wanna bubble-snot cry. I wish someone had told Karyn Washington that she didn’t have to be strong. She didn’t have to hold the world’s glaring eyes on her shoulders. That asking for help was ok. No matter how you ask for it, it’s ok. People say all the time, You’re so strong! That’s so far from the truth. I AM WEAK!!! I think that’s what has gotten me through. I don’t judge myself for bursting into tears in the middle of a meeting. I don’t judge myself for eating the entire pint of butter pecan ice cream (although I just signed up for Crunch)! And I cannot judge myself for not being able to save Karyn.”

Karyn spread words of hope to thousands of women everyday. Messages such as this one, which she shared last year while watching her mother deteriorate from cancer:

“I am empowered by other strong women and girls. Even by those who don’t necessarily know they are inspiring. Women who are doing what they can to uplift others around them and make a difference in their community motivate me to do the same. I think it is so important for women no matter what complexion, race, or religious background to be united in making sure our voices are heard — that we are being leaders and positive role models to the younger generation.”

May her soul rest in peace, Amen.

PDP blames APC for Nyanya bomb attack, releases statement

And now we are playing blame games. In statement signed this afternoon by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, the party condemned today’s Nyanya bombing describing it as barbaric and extremely wicked and maintaining that it was politically motivated. They called APC out! So wait, politicians are playing games with people’s lives? Read statement below…

“The PDP weeps. We are indeed grief-stricken. Our hearts go out to the bereaved, especially those who have been orphaned and widowed and those now deprived of their bread winners by this evil act. We share in their pain, their anguish and their loss and pray that those behind their grief must not escape justice,” the party said.

“We stand by our earlier statements that these attacks on our people are politically motivated by unpatriotic persons, especially those in the APC, who have been making utterances and comments, promoting violence and blood-letting as a means of achieving political control.” Continue…

“Nigerians are also aware of utterances by certain APC governors which have been aimed at undermining our security forces and emboldening insurgents against the people.

“Those who have been promoting violence through their utterances can now see the monster they have created. They can now see the end product of their comments; a country flowing daily with the blood of the innocent.

The question is; how do they feel when they see the mangled and blood-soaked bodies of their victims? How do they feel when they hear the voices of the dying and the injured?

“Of course they feel nothing. Their hearts have been hardened and they are embittered by the fact that they have been rejected by the people. They are bitter because the people have chosen to rally round the government they love and voted for; but must they chose the path of violence and bloodletting as a response to the wishes and aspiration of the people.

Urging all well meaning Nigerians to stand up and join President Goodluck Jonathan in his untiring efforts to check terrorism in the country, the PDP caution those fueling the attacks to retrace their steps, rid themselves of bitterness and desperation and seek forgiveness from God.

The party, in solidarity with the people also shelved all official engagements while praying God to grant the bereaved the fortitude to bear the loss.

Pakistani Man Arrested For Allegedly Eating Corpse Of Baby

ate baby

A Pakistani man was arrested on suspicion of cannibalism when the head of a newborn baby was found at his home — three years after he was jailed for the same offence.

Police raided the house in a remote village in Punjab province after neighbours complained of a foul smell and found the head of the two-day-old baby inside.

Householder Mohammad Arif admitted eating the child after his brother stole the body from a graveyard in
Darya Khan village, around 300 kilometres south of Islamabad, officers said.Arif and his brother Farman Ali were arrested for eating human corpses in the same village in April 2011 and served two years in prison, in a case that shocked Pakistan.

“Arif has been arrested and he has confessed that his brother brought the dead body of the newborn from the nearby graveyard,” said Ameer Abdullah, police chief of Bhakkar district where the village is located.

“Arif told police that both of them later cooked the dead body and ate it.”

There is no specific law against cannibalism in Pakistan’s penal code, so as in the 2011 case Arif has been charged with desecrating a dead body and public order offences.

In the earlier case police found the body of a 24-year-old woman who had recently died of cancer at the men’s house — minus a leg, which they had eaten.

A hunt is under way to find Ali, Abdullah said, while Arif will undergo psychiatric tests.

Zafar Iqbal, a police official in Darya Khan police station, where Arif is being held, said that the men’s wives and family members had left them some years ago and both were living in the house in isolation.

“The neighbours complained to police of a foul stench and police raided the house immediately. We arrested him after discovering a head of a baby. Arif has admitted his crime,” Mr Iqbal said

Insecurity: FG Has Run Out Of Ideas – APC Govs

APC CHIEFTAINSComing on the heels of yesterday’s bomb blast in Nyanya, which left no fewer than 71 persons dead and over 124 others injured, the All Progressives Congress, APC governors reviewed the security situation in the country and concluded that the Federal Government had run out of ideas on how best to checkmate terrorists and other criminals.

The governors, under the aegis of Progressive Governors Forum, PGF, while commiserating with families of victims of the blast, regretted that the death of innocent Nigerians had become a daily occurrence with little respite.

The statement, which was released by the Chairman of the Forum and governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, noted with concern that no fewer than 1000 innocent Nigerians had been killed in the last two weeks.

The PGF also commiserated with the parents and families of the candidates, who were killed while trying to sit for the JAMB examinations in Maiduguri, Borno State, weekend.

The PGF said the tragic deaths indicated a major failure on the part of the Federal Government.

The PGF said: “As if failing to tackle the Boko Haram insurgency is not bad enough, the security situation has deteriorated to a level where so-called gunmen are now on the rampage across Nigeria, killing and maiming at will with no response from our poorly equipped and informed security operatives.

“Is it too much for government to, at the very least, identify the perpetrators of these terrible crimes?”

Chiwetel Ejiofor Says He’s ‘Not Originally’ From Nigeria

Oscar Award nominee, Chiwetel Ejiofor, has cleared the air about his nationality.

During a media parley held on Friday, April 11, 2014, at the Wheatbaker Hotel in preparation for the premiere of the Half of A Yellow Sun movie, he explained why he claimed to be originally from London while on the Ellen Degeneres show.

According to him, it was because it (London) is his place of birth and not because he wanted to dissociate himself from Nigeria.

‘I was trying to give a honest answer about where I was born and so I said London, which was where I was born. To me, it was a surprising reaction that people then concluded that I was saying I did not identify as a Nigerian. I’m Nigerian-British but if you ask me where I was born or where I am originally from, I can’t say Enugu because I wasn’t born there‘, he said.

He was joined by other Nigerian actors including OC Ukeje, Gloria Young for the premiere of the movie at the Silverbird Cinemas, Lagos, on Saturday April 12.

Pistorius “Heartbroken” at Seeing Steenkamp Body- Report

South African Olympic athlete Oscar Pistorius has told his murder trial he was “heartbroken” when he saw the body of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

“I crouched down over her… and I checked to see if she was breathing or if she had a pulse,” he said.

The prosecution has now finished five days of gruelling cross-examination, which has seen the athlete break down on several occasions.

Before his cross-examination ended, the court was shown a photograph of the toilet covered in blood where Ms Steenkamp was shot in February 2013.

Oscar Pistorius Breaks Down in Court During Trial.

Mr Pistorius, 27, said that after shooting through the toilet door at what he thought were intruders, he realised he may have mistakenly killed his girlfriend, a 29-year-old model and law graduate.

He said he tried to break down the door with his shoulder, before using a cricket bat, all the time screaming in panic.

But the double-amputee sprinter said he stopped screaming when he finally opened the door and saw the body.

When asked why, he replied, his voice trembling with emotion: “I was heartbroken… overcome with sadness.”

Prosecutor Gerrie Nel said the athlete had deliberately killed his girlfriend following an argument.

“You fired four shots through the door whilst knowing that she was standing behind the door. She was locked into the bathroom and you armed yourself with the sole purpose of shooting and killing her,” he said.

Mr Pistorius replied: “That is not true.”

He has argued he mistook her for an intruder. The athlete dubbed the ‘Blade Runner’ faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted of premeditated murder.

Niger Govt. Uncovers 7,000 Ghost Students On Payroll Of Scholarship Board

gov Muazu Babangida AliyuThe Niger Government said it uncovered 7,000 ghost students on the payroll of its scholarship board.

The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr Mohammad Nuhu, who made this known to newsmen in Minna on Monday, said the discoveries were made during a verification exercise.

Nuhu said the discovery had saved government over N125 million, noting that the achievement was as a result of the introduction of a scratch card issued to all scholarship beneficiaries.

He, however, wondered how students were able to beat the security of various universities to fill registers made for eligible scholarship’s beneficiaries on government request with fictitious names.

The commissioner said from now on scholarship applicants must register online for the award via the ministry’s website currently in the making.

According to him, the system is designed with advance features that will prevent any applicant from registering twice and can also detect fake applicants.

Nuhu said the ministry was committed to payment of scholarship, saying N704 million was paid to 58,000 students, covering 2011, 2012 and 2013 academic sessions.

He said arrangements had been concluded for the payment of the 2014 academic session’s scholarship of N94 million for 9,000 students in various institutions nationwide.  (NAN

Ogun PDP Faction Loyal To Obasanjo Affirm Support For Jonathan, Mu’azu

Goodluck-Jonathan-and-ObasanjoA faction of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ogun State known to be loyalists of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, on Monday said it has set up a reconciliation committee to meet with the other factions of the party in the state and submit its report to the leadership in one week time.

This was made known by a former state chairman of the party, Joju Fadairo, who led the team, known as mainstream PDP, at a press conference held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

Fadairo also debunked the insinuation that his group had defected to the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, saying they were yet to get such a directive from the former president.

However, some loyalists of the former president, including the former state chairman of his faction of the party, Oladipo Odujinrin, and sacked PDP National Auditor, Bode Mustapha, recently defected to the APC. They have also taken part in several functions of their new party.

Mr. Fadairo, however, said selected leaders of the party met and resolved to remain in the PDP. He expressed confidence that all the factions of the party would work together to ensure the success of the party in the state in the 2015 elections.

“You’ll have heard that they said the mainstream people who are in baba’s (Obasanjo) camp had gone to APC. We have not gone to APC. Baba did not say go to APC. Baba is in PDP and we want to disabuse the minds of the people who are saying people who are with Obasanjo mainstream have gone to APC. That is the essence of this meeting.

“All our members are here, those who have defected, I don’t know about them. We are adults and this is a democracy and anybody who wants to pitch camp with any party should do so. But for clarity purpose, we called this meeting and we are saying we in mainstream are still in the PDP. We have said that there is a committee that is set up so that we can talk to all concerned and make our party solid”.

The PDP chieftain said his group resolved to “ensure that all factions of the party in the state should fuse together for strength. Therefore, we request the national body of our party to intervene and do the needful.

“A reconciliation committee to work with the other factions was set up and will work immediately and report back to the house within the next seven days.

“We affirm our unflinching support for the leadership of our party in person of Alhaji Muazu and President Ebele Goodluck Jonathan, GCFR.

“We also affirm that we remain in PDP and will continue to work for the unity and success of the party come 2015”, he said.
