Ghanaian actor, Van Vicker in a recent interview with Nigerian Tribune, addressed the issue of actress, Genevieve Nnaji’s remark about him not being a good actor.
See Van Vicker’s response below…
I read the article but I wasn’t bothered about it because that was her opinion, and she is entitled to it. I never responded to it, and I don’t think I will. Nevertheless, I don’t have any ill feelings towards her. Now, whether her opinion has changed or is still the same, it doesn’t make much of a difference to me, because I know I am a fantastic actor and I am doing what I am doing with passion. I am enjoying it and I’m making the best I can of it.
Having said that, if I am given a job to do and she is involved, I would do the job. I won’t say because she said this, I won’t do the job.
If I meet her at a function or on a movie shoot, I’ll ask her; but I won’t do it through the media. Some of these things people write in the papers or on the blogs are not even true; it’s possible they twisted her words. They do it to me all the time, so it’s possible they did that to her. But when I meet her personally, I will ask her if she did say that. And if she did, the conversation will continue, as to why she said it and how she said it”

Days ago, top Nigerian movie producer, Obi Emelonye stated that movie Actresses, Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Jalade were now jobless as they were way too expensive to be hired for movie roles in the Nollywood industry.
Obi’s statement had generated series of comments and reactions on the social media. However, in a swift reaction to the alleged statement, which was sensationally captioned in major online newspapers, Obi said his conversation with a friend about the two Actresses was “misquoted, misconstrued, taken out of context and blown out of proportions,” affirming further that he holds the two titans of the movie industry in complete veneration, and had at no point made any statement on the contrary.
Obi stated this in a press statement captioned “Genevieve and Omotola. Mia culpa and obtained by DailyPost.
Read full statement below:
I woke up over the weekend to a barrage of online reports of irreverent and disrespectful headlines about Genevieve and Omotola that were attributed to me.
Without delving into too much details, my private conversations in my house with a friend; talking about what Tom Cruise did when he stopped accepting lousy film projects from the big hollywood studios; has been misquoted, misconstrued, taken out of context and blown out of proportions.
I want to state firstly that I hold these two titans of our industry in complete veneration. (Even the misquotes could not hide that fact). I am also grateful for their unique contributions to the great success of my collaborative projects with them.
Secondly, let it be known that in the time I have known Genevieve and Omotola and in all the dealings that I have had with them, I have never for once said a misplaced word about them, privately or publicly. I have neither betrayed the confidence of their friendship nor tried to gain cheap PR fodder from confidential informationI I may hold.
The initiator of this cruel stunt has coined stupid headlines to attract attention to themselves. I guess they have succeeded. However, I am not going to give them further relevance by naming them to the world. So I have decided take full responsibility for my naivete in being so indiscreet; something I am not known for.
I have already personally apologised to Omotola and Genevieve for my part in this silliness. It is with their permission and without intending to stoke the fire of this publicity stunt, that I am writing to clarify the situation and also to personally and publicly apologise to the millions of fans and supporters loyal to Genevieve and Omotola who have been scandalised by this perversion.
I have had a rewarding professional relationship with these two icons of our time; based on mutual respect and it is my wish to preserve that. I sincerely hope that this wholehearted and public show of contrition would be enough for Omotola and Genevieve (and their fans) to rise above their legitimate anger about this and forgive a friend who values them more than words can say.
We learn everyday. Mia culpa! Mia maxima culpa! God bless you all. Broadcast by TheodoraIbekwepr
According to Encomium Weekly, inside sources have confirmed to them that there is no intimate relationship between Nigeria’s top entertainer D’Banj and A-list Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji. That what happened on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at the Nigerian Breweries Plc’s sponsored event tagged, Club Ultimate, shouldn’t be used as evidence that the celebrities have rekindled their love cos it’s all a publicity stunt.
ENCOMIUM Weekly says they were at the event when D’Banj, garbed in a white shirt, straight cut black jeans and a black waist coat, drove in in a black Bentley (one of the two Bentleys he bought while in the defunct Mo’Hits), followed by a G-Wagon, which was driven by the gifted thespian, Genevieve. Obviously, the expression on D’Banj’s face showed that he wanted the actress, and they displayed public affection for each other.
But the source said there was no intimacy in what we all saw that night, other than having fun. The source, who did not want his name published said:
“D’Banj and ‘Gene’, as Geneveive is fondly called, once dated. They were dating when D’Banj paid Genevieve N2 million to feature her in Fall in Love video, before they parted ways. Since then, they have been best friends,”
D’Banj (32) has been romantically linked with different ladies, notable among them were Jennifer Obayuwana, Ini Edo, Nadia Buari, Sarah Ofili, among others, but the entertainer said he is yet to find the right girl. While Genevieve Nnaji (33) was also said to have had a liaison with top celebrities, including Kunle Coker and others.
A couple of days ago, there was a heavy buzz on the social media that Nollywood Actress, Genevieve Nnaji, has been signed on as one of the new Brand Ambassadors of Etisalat, a telecommunications company operating in Nigeria.
Former lovers D’banj and Genevieve are reportedly back together and more serious than ever. The two who dated on and off for 2 years and broke up in 2011 seem to be getting their relationship vibe back. Genevieve Nnaji has been reported to be currently living in D’banjs lekki house.
We’re happy for the both of them and hopefully we can see a power celeb marriage in 2014. Congrats to the both of them in advance.
“Yes it’s true. You know that Dbanj love Genny very much and he didn’t send her away before but she left on her own and when she pleaded with him to come back, he just have to forgive her. He has taken her back and she is very happy!” Those are the words of a close source in D’banj’s camp who confirmed the story that the two are back. Genevieve needed a man in her life and to end 2013 without one would have been sad.
Sources are alleging that the love birds are already talking marriage but the source told me that such may not be true. He said D’banj has already told her that their relationship should be free of pressure… I think Genny should just be happy that at least she now has a man and allow things to take their due course in order not to drive D’banj away again, because most single successful guys do not like to be rushed. lol!
Whatever the case may be, I wish them a better 2014 in their love life
Nollywood actress, Eniola Badmus, has cried out over the perceived sidelining of actors in the Yoruba sector of the movie industry by Nigerian bloggers, while placing emphasis on the English sector.
This act, according to the beefy cross-over actress, is not placing them on the same leverage the English speaking have in terms of publicity and promotion.
She feels the Yoruba actors are unrated by Nigerian bloggers as they only give prominence to the likes of Mercy Johnson, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Genevieve Nnaji, Ini Edo, Rita Dominic and others.
Eniola Badmus painted a picture of total neglect, believing that the Yoruba actors are inclined to put in more efforts at their jobs since making an indigenous movie is more tasking and they should be accorded more respect and mention in the media.
In her words: “I really don’t know why bloggers underrate Yoruba actresses and actors. I still feel they do more as indigenous movies are more tasking.”
Bloggers, Eniola has said it as it is. Please let’s give actors that make indigenous movies equal prominence.
Celebrity dancer Kafayat ‘Kaffy’ Shafau has proven to us that carrying a baby bump can never stop her from doing what she loves to do best – dance!
She took to the dance floor and rocked the beats like no other at the wedding of Peter and Lola Okoye keeping everyone’s attention fixed on her.
Quite energetic for an expectant mother, to think that she danced on a pair of heels.
In a recently published story by a Nigerian magazine, the prevalence of scandals in the Nigerian movie industry was highlighted and it was noted that these scandals, which have become synonymous with Nollywood, have been perpetrated mostly by actresses.
Scandals ranging from husband snatching to s*xual immorality are synonymous with Nollywood acts, and these have affected the image of many Nigerian actors and actresses.
Mercy Johnson has always been in the news even before her controversial wedding to Edo big boy, Prince Odi Okojie on Saturday, August 27, 2011. The lady hit the news headlines when she was pictured exposing her private part at an event. It was obvious in the photograph that she did not wear pant or bra. Her wedding became an issue, which was feasted on by the print media as she was alleged to have snatched someone’s husband as revealed by one Lovelyn, a supposed wife of Prince Okojie. Mercy Johnson is one actress with scandalous séxual controversies
Inibong Edobong, better known as Ini Edo. Ini is one Nollywood actress that is synonymous with s*x scandals in the industry. Her wedding was a bit controversial after she was believed to have snatched Philip Ehiagwina from society lady, Ruth Okoro. She was once rumoured to be having a romantic affair with a governor in the South-South region of Nigeria. Also recently, she was reported to have left a club with another man.
Tonto Dikeh is unarguably the most controversial Nollywood actress. The beautiful lady has always been in the news since her emergence in the movie industry in 2006. She was recently alleged to have been paid N5million for s*x by the Managing Director of Sifax, Mr. Taiwo Afolabi. Tonto is also noted for being a lover of tattoo as she has more than 57 designs on her body. One other thing about this lady is that she is a heavy smoker, and she once had a brawl with Van Vicker on a movie set in 2011.
Iyabo Ojo is not new to negative stories. It was reported that a top Lagos politician and former Senator gave her the Range Rover SUV she is cruising around town. Her bitter fight with colleague, Lizzy Anjorin was almost becoming monumental until some industry heavyweights stepped in to broker peace between the two beautiful actresses. Apart from that, the controversial actress has been involved in several séx scandals and she was once reported to have been caught having séx with a man at the back seat of a car in London.
Until her recent wedding to Oshodi big boy, Alhaji Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede, Funke was really an actress with many séx scandals. She was alleged to have fought with one of her colleagues on a movie set in 2011 over a man. Some have also rumoured that she had escapades with some notable men before her marriage, which held with funfare on May 26, 2012. Her wedding to Almaroof also became controversial as she was reported to be going into Almaroof’s life as a third wife.
Genny, as sexy Genevieve Nnaji is fondly called, has been romantically linked with several actors in Nollywood. Ramsey Nouah, RMD, Pat Attah and others are some of the men she was rumoured to have dated. Genevieve was once said to have dated a topmost politician in Nigeria, apart from other alleged sexcapades here and there. Though she has become the face of a popular vehicle manufacturer, her s*x life in the industry can never be easily forgotten in a hurry
Tayo Odueke (Sikiratu Sindodo)
Not many know Tayo Odueke by her real name, she is better known and addressed as Sikiratu Sindodo, a name she got from one of her movie flicks. One of her most popular scandals was her hot romance with a leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Oshodi, Lagos, Musiliu Akinsanya also known as MC Oluomo. Oluomo was even said to have sent her to Saudi Arabia for holy pilgrimage. She was also rumoured to have dated actor and producer, Kunle Afod. Just few months ago, there gist went round town that she was having an affair with younger brother of Kunle Afolayan, Aremu which she has profusely denied. She is presently rumoured to be in a sizzling romance with top Fuji artiste, Malaika.
Nollywood beautiful actress, Stella Damasus is seen by many as the industry ‘good girl’ until she was alleged to have caused the separation of fellow actress, Doris Simeon with her hubby, Daniel Ademinokan. Stella was reported to have started a love affair with Daniel before his marriage with Simeon crashed. Her secret was exposed by a soft sell magazine, which reported that Doris was ready to fight Stella for snatching her hubby. There were also reports that both Daniel and Stella have been seen together in some compromising ways. Though Stella and Daniel have denied having any amorous relationship, but some are still in doubt that their closeness is a business affair.
Her failed marriages and romantic affairs with some big wigs in the industry have been a thing for many to feed on. Bukky Wright’s pretty looks has attracted many men to her. The mother of two is surely not free from some scandals associated with the play-acting profession in Nigeria. She has been severally alleged of hoping from one bed to another.
This estranged wife of top Nollywood actor, Saidi Balogun, Faithia is surely also not free of some scandals in Nollywood. She was once rumoured to have fought her colleague in the Yoruba movie industry over a young Ibadan politician, Rotimi Ajanaku. She was rumoured to have alleged that the lady snatched Ajanaku from her. She was once reported to be in sizzling romance with the Director of Corporate Pictures, Alhaji Abdullahi Razak. It was also reported that this almost destroyed the marriage of the top marketer. One funny thing about Faithia is the fact that she is yet to drop the surname of her former husband, Balogun.
Stephanie Okereke was reported in 2011 to have fought with Genevieve Nnaji when she reportedly found out that Genevieve had allegedly cornered her link to a man in the presidency she reportedly introduced Geneveive to in the presidency. She was reported to have felt bad that Genny cornered her in getting access to the presidency through a former aide of President Goodluck Jonathan, Douglas Oronto. Stephanie was said to be the only link Genevieve had to Douglas until she found her way through another means. Stephanie has also been linked with some s*x scandals in the past.
The relationship between actor Kunle Coker and Genevieve Nnaji has been generating a lot of dust since last week when an interview she had with Azuh Arinze sometime a go was published recently.
Question: But the story we heard was that Kunle Coker brought you into Nollywood and both of you even dated“Yes, Kunle Coker was actually my boyfriend, but he did not bring me to the industry.
Question: Is it true that you dumped him for Fred Amata?“Fred Amata? I’ve never had anything to do with Fred Amata. I used to call him uncle, so I don’t see the reason why I should date Fred. We are just friends.”
