+As Eulogies Pour In
On Thursday, 21st March 2013, world renowned televangelist and founder of Christ Apostolic Church, Oke-Itura aka World Soul Winning Evangelical Ministry (IWOSEM), Prophet Timothy ‘Koseunti’ Obadare died. His house at Oyemekun, Akure, Ondo State capital city, was host to guests who came to condole with the family of the late man of God.
Obadare died at the age of 85 in his Akure residence before he was taken to a private hospital to confirm his death. During his life time, he was known popularly for his monthly crusade “Koseunti” that drew Christians from all denominations to Akure. He was not diagnosed of any illness according to one of his pastors, Pastor Joseph Akinbodewa who spoke with us at Baba’s resident on Friday.
Baba’s last born, Joseph Obadare also confirmed that his father died the time God wanted. He gave up the ghost in the hands of his son Joseph. Till death, Baba took his evangelism work seriously and it was in the course of this, he preached all over the world, winning souls for Christ. He was until his death the General Evangelist of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC). Even in the time of crisis at the C.A.C. Worldwide between he and the authority, he never left C.A.C. till he formed WOSEM in 1980. His ministry dates back to the 50’s with the C.A.C. In 1962, Baba was the evangelist for Section B in C.A.C. In 1969, he became the Assistant General Evangelist C.A.C. Worldwide.
Then long after, a revelation came and God spoke to him that he had given him a bunch of keys but he had been building on another man’s foundation. Baba started his 1st Revival in Shaki in February 1970, and within 3 years, he founded 15 churches in Shaki, and its environ and the authority of C.A.C in 1973 went to bless the churches and these became Shaki Districts of C.A.C.
In 1974, he took his revival to Offa in Kwara State. It was at Offa that God worked miraculously through him. In 1975, Baba formed a group called World Soul Winning Group (WOSGO); this group generated a lot of noise in C.A.C. then. In 1980, he changed it to World Soul Winning Evangelical Ministry (WOSEM). It’s an arm in C.A.C. And that was how WOSEM started.
Baba was a prayer warrior for Christ; he was a courageous person and someone who had passion for the ministry. This year, Koseunti will be 43 years.
He was the first ever blind prophet in Nigeria. It was gathered that not for a day did Baba let his blindness weigh him down. It was said that God opened Baba’s brain and put the whole Bible in his head. This accounts for why he was gifted with the Scriptures. He was not born blind, it was said he went blind when he was in secondary school due to enemies who wanted to change his glory from good to bad; rather the glory waxed higher than they expected. Baba Obadare is described by many as the General in the Jesus Army, and he did his best for the Church.
Since he died, services have been held daily at his residence to celebrate his exit. His favourtie songs were “Ope mi po lodo re, aiye o pa mi lekun mo jo mo yon ni ile re, ope ye baba o ye”; “Mo gbe jesu mide, alagbara mi mo tug be de”, among other songs. Baba is survived by his wife, Lady Evangelist Obadare and his children: Pastor Paul Obadare, Evang. Samuel Obadeare, Joseph Obadare, among others. Until his death his ministration cut across the world with churches in most African countries and abroad, while the headquarters is situated in Akure.
