On Saturday, March 12 2011, we published a story captioned Reps Member, Dr. (Mrs.) Uche Ekwunife Caught with Pants Down…. See Video” .Minutes after our story aired, our phones were inundated with calls, and one of such callers was Ikenna Ezenekwe publisher of Ukpaka reports.com, he said he was calling on behalf of his sister (Hon.Uche Ekwenife).
In the words of Mr.Ezenekwe, he was part of Dr. Mrs. Uche Ekwenife`s campaign train which was in Awka on Saturday march 12, 2011, and she had commissioned him to help resolve her media “nightmare” (video of her having sex), which was published on youtube and republished on huhuonline.com and pointblanknews.com.
Mr. Ezenekwe requested that huhuonline.com pull down the video, saying that the woman was ready to pay any amount, but his plea was rebuffed, and was asked to tell the embattled Uche Ekwenife, who allegedly allowed herself to be videotaped, while having sex to “perish with her money”.
Minutes later, Mr. Ezenekwe called again, this time he sounded very desperate and pleaded profusely; “I beg help me commot the video from your website, the woman na my sister” I beg, he exclaimed.
Mr. Ezenekwe affirmed that he had committed himself to the woman (Uche Ekwenife). Asked, how? He said he had promised the woman, he could help her remove the story from pointblanknew.com and huhuonline.com.
At this juncture, our editor lambasted Mr. Ezenekwe, saying, “how dare you go about misinforming your friends that you can help them “kill” stories on other people`s site. You do not have such pull with us”.
Consequently, huhuonline.com contacted pointblanknews.com and informed them of the dialogue with Mr. Ezenekwe and our stance on the issue. Pointblanknews.com then informed that he (Ikenna) had also contacted them with same demand, but that they were not interested as well.
Hours later, Mr. Ezenekwe called to say that Uche Ekwenife acting on Ben Bruce`s prompting, had threatened to have him arrested, and video tape his arrest, which will be aired on Ben Murray Bruce`s Silverbird Television station.
Mr. Ezenekwe averred that Mrs. Ekwenife had boasted that since huhuonline.com and pointblanknews.com had refused to yield to her demand, “she was going to use them as scape goats”.
Responding, huhuonline.com editors asked Mr. Ikenna Ezenekwe to tell Hon.Uche Ekwenife “to do her worst”.
Sunday March 13, 2011.
YouTube (the owners of the video) removed the video from its site, thus making it inaccessible to our subscribers. Consequently huhuonline.com removed the story from its site.
However, the embattled Honorable Uche Ekwenife appears to have made good her threat to use pointblanknews.com and huhuonline.com as “scape goat”, in her attempt to use government paraphernalia to muzzle and gag these two reputable online media.
In her submission to the state security service (SSS), obtained by huhuonline.com, the drowning lawmaker said, “Towards evening, same day Ikenna called again to let me know that pointblanknews.com is about to sale the clip to huhuonline.com and that huhuonline.com is demanding six million naira (N6, 000,000.00) not to publish it on their site”.
The question that now begs for answer is how can anyone sell a video that was already on YouTube, which can be assessed freely by anyone who has internet access.
In addition, Ikenna Ezenekwe contacted huhuonline.com after Mrs. Uche Ekwenife sex video was published, thus, the editors of huhuonline.com or any of its reporters or collaborators could not have made any demand on her. In fact, it is not in our character to do so.
